The Yaegl Elders Aboriginal Corporation, currently supported by Mudyala Aboriginal Corporation, held a fantastic one day gathering on Yaegl Country on Wednesday 15th June 2022. This event attract approximately 70 elders from as far south as Bowraville and as far north as Tabulam.
The Maclean High School hospitality students volunteers time to get some work experience and served the elders. The day began with a welcome and opening by the Yaegl Elders Group, followed by entertainment by Kerri McLeay and her band. Aunty Glenda MacPhail shared stories of the Fig Tree at Maclean showground and Aunty Lenore Parker shared stories of Ulgundahi Island.
The elders were catered for the entire day, there were lucky door prizes given out and everyone got to take home a chicken curry and rice for dinner, after their big day of travel and yarn ups. More photos can be found on the Yaegl Elders Aboriginal Corporation Facebook page.
