On Thursday 2nd June 2022, Mudyala Aboriginal Corporation, along with a number of partners, hosted the Clarence Valley Close the Gap Day 2022. The day packed with over 900 school students was filled with activities, culture, language, and key messages from service providers on how we can all Close the Gap.
The official opening of the event was completed by Uncle Keith Randall, followed by a speech by Nyoka McLeay on the importance of Closing the Gap. The day promoted local culture and arts, and had key local entertainment, including Lennox Monaghan, Maanyung, Kerri McLeay and Bobby McLeay.
NRL football stars Cody Walker, Shaq Mitchell, Braydon Trindall, James Roberts and Daine Laurie were all in attendance on the day to help promote the key messages, particularly how change starts with you.
There were a number of service provides that made the day a fun and interactive event for all youth, including Headspace, Solid Mob, Bulgarr Ngaru, Clarence Valley Council and many more. Thank you to the volunteers who made the event possible, including groups such as Maclean Rotary Club.
